The Local Justice Initiative

Project Director: Alex Hinton
Graduate Researcher: Meng-Try Ea

Through symposia, lectures, and research projects, the Local Justice project initiative explores the ways in which global conceptions and mechanisms of justice do or do not articulate with local conceptions and mechanisms of justice. This project was initiated by the symposium “Local Justice: Global Mechanisms and Local Meanings in the Aftermath of Mass Atrocity” and includes an ongoing research initiative, headed by Alex Hinton, the Director of CGHR, and Meng-Try Ea, a doctoral candidate in the Division of Global Affairs at Rutgers, on local perceptions of the Khmer Rouge Tribunal in Cambodia. This symposium and research will result in the publication of two books, a comparative edited volume and a monograph.
