Marcelo Raffin

Professor, University of Buenos Aires

Kok-Thay, PhD Candidate Marcelo Raffin received his Ph.D. and Masters in Philosophy from the University of Paris 8 and JD from the University of Buenos Aires. He received his undergraduate education at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), Argentina, where he studied Sociology, Philosophy, Law and Translation (Spanish, English and French). He is a professor and a researcher in Philosophy, Social and Political Theory and Human Rights at the UBA. He has been a visiting professor and an invited researcher at several universities, including the University of Paris I-Centre de Recherches Politiques de la Sorbonne and the Social Science Research Council. He has also worked at UNESCO Headquarters and with numerous NGO’s working on human rights. Among other books, he has published La experiencia del horror: Subjetividad y derechos humanos en las dictaduras y posdictaduras del Cono Sur (2006) and Obsesiones y fantasmas de la Argentina, El antisemitismo: Evita, los desaparecidos y Malvinas en la ficción literaria (with Adrián Melo, 2005), as well as authored text books on Philosophy and Human Rights for higher education. He is currently working on a research project about genocide, politics and the treatment of life in the modern and contemporary socio-political paradigm.
